About Suicide Grief Support CIC
Creating Hope, Healing and Understanding After Suicide Loss
Suicide Grief Support CIC exists to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support, education and healing opportunities for individuals, families, professionals and organisations whose lives and communities have been affected by suicide.
We understand that suicide loss impacts not only individuals, but families, workplaces, schools, healthcare teams, charities and entire communities. Alongside grief, many people experience trauma, unanswered questions, guilt, shame, isolation and a profound sense that life has changed forever.
To ensure that nobody affected by suicide loss has to navigate this journey alone, while reducing stigma and increasing understanding, compassion and support within the communities, workplaces and organisations that surround them.
Suicide Grief Support CIC provides trauma-informed support, education and healing opportunities for individuals, families, professionals and organisations. Drawing on evidence-based psychology, EMDR-informed principles and nervous system-informed approaches, we offer counselling, retreats, podcasts, training and resources that recognise the profound impact of traumatic grief and the importance of connection in healing.
Whether we are supporting an individual, facilitating a retreat, delivering training or working alongside organisations, we recognise that grief is not something people “get over”. It is something we learn to carry, while continuing to find meaning, connection and hope.
Rebuilding a life worth living begins when people feel seen, heard and understood.
Although life is forever changed by suicide loss, healing and meaning remain possible.
Nobody should have to walk this path alone. Healing can happen in relationship and community.
We are committed to ethical, professional and trauma-informed practice.
We believe lasting change happens when individuals, professionals, organisations and communities work together.
Healing is not about forgetting. It is about learning how to carry love and loss together while continuing to live with purpose and meaning.
Suicide Grief Support CIC was established as a Community Interest Company because our vision extends beyond providing services.
As a CIC, any surplus generated through our services is reinvested into expanding support, creating educational resources, developing future projects and improving accessibility for those who may otherwise struggle to access specialist help.
We are committed to building a future where individuals, families, professionals and organisations have access to compassionate, trauma-informed care and an understanding of suicide grief.
CONTACT USSuicide Grief Support was founded by Dr Sue Egan, Counselling Psychologist, EMDR Therapist, retreat facilitator, podcaster and educator.
Through both professional work and personal experience, Sue recognised that many people affected by suicide loss are trying to survive unimaginable pain while continuing to parent, work, care for others and carry the responsibilities of everyday life. Professionals and organisations supporting bereaved individuals often feel equally underprepared and under-supported.
We have a unique bespoke service which addresses the unique challenges organisations face after losing a colleague to suicide. Dr Sue guides leaders, HR professionals, and teams in:
Understanding the impact of suicide on workplace culture and wellbeing.
Reducing stigma and addressing silence that can deepen isolation.
Communicating with compassion while respecting privacy and diversity of grief responses.
Creating supportive structures and signposting to appropriate resources.
Preventing long-term effects such as burnout, disengagement, and unresolved trauma.
This helps organisations not only respond with sensitivity in the immediate aftermath but also foster resilience and care in the months that follow.
Dr. Sue Egan is a Counselling Psychologist, EMDR practitioner, suicide grief specialist, podcast host and international keynote speaker. She combines professional expertise with lived experience, helping individuals and families navigate the unique complexities of suicide bereavement.
Her work integrates psychology, trauma therapy, and polyvagal-informed practice with deep compassion, empowering people to release guilt and shame, regulate emotions, and reclaim their lives. Sue’s doctoral research focuses specifically on suicide grief, and she is currently writing a book on the subject, further exploring the experiences of those left behind.
Beyond her clinical and retreat work, Sue is a sought-after keynote speaker on suicide loss, trauma, and grief awareness. Her talks blend research with lived experience, breaking stigma and leaving audiences with hope, understanding, and practical strategies.
LET'S TALK
“Dr Sue’s workshop on suicide grief was powerful and deeply moving. Delivering something so personal must have been incredibly challenging, yet she did an amazing job. The session struck a perfect balance – weaving personal disclosure, breadth of research, and real engagement without feeling like lip service. I especially valued the way prevention and postvention were given space separately, with a strong focus on the impact. Sue’s openness was both brave and illuminating, and it brought the challenges of this work to life in a way that really resonated. Every word, every piece of research felt valuable. A truly excellent workshop.”
